Londra (Gran Bretagna) – Martedì dedicato alle “ladies”, il secondo ai Championships di Londra. I due campi centrali dell’All England Club saranno a disposizione delle ultime otto atlete rimaste in gara nel tabellone femminile. Dopo le sconfitte delle prime tre teste di serie Wozniacki, Zvonareva e Li, e dopo le (quasi) clamorose estromissioni delle sorelle Williams, è Victoria Azarenka (n.4) la più alta in grado.

Per la bielorussa c’è la Paszek, una delle due uniche tenniste rimaste in gara a non essere fra le 32 seeded. L’altra non accreditata, la Lisicki, incrocia la racchetta con Marion Bartoli, già finalista di Wimbledon nel 2007. Si fermarono in semifinale lo scorso anno invece Kvitova e Pironkova, che apriranno il programma sul Campo 1 mentre la vincitrice dell’edizione 2004 dello Slam verde (unica ex campionessa rimasta in vita) Maria Sharapova se la vedrà con la carnefice della Wozniacki, Dominika Cibulkova
